Hi There

I am presuming you mean the power packs for starting cars with a flat battery.

They come with jump leads, compressor, light, and a 12v ciggy type socket for 12v appliances. I got one bought for me this xmas but have only used it in the garage, but I should think it would be great for camping, many uses, and the leads could be used for jump starting the wife in a morning to go get the breakfast started and the all important kettle on, mmmmm ( feels there is gonna be some replys from the girls about that one) hahaha, please be gentle with me ladies.

Regards

 Steve.

When I first bought my caravan it didn't have a proper leisure battery and the only way of getting 12v power into the van for the lights and water pumps was via the 12s cable outside.

The previous owner had rigged this up to a grey lead with crocodile clips on the end. I bought the battery/charger/compressor and simply connected the crocodile clips from that to the crocodile clips on the grey lead and eureka...12v power to all lights and pumps.

I don't know how long it would have run for though as I eventually had a proper leisure battery fitted inside and didn't use it in ernest. However, I took it with me on my first caravan trip this last weekend and used it to power a small radio/CD/TV set and it was ideal. Used it for a good two or three hours each evening and an hour or two during the day over the two days and it used a little less than 50% of the charge.

If it's any help, this is what the instructions say it will power from the cigarette lighter socket :-

Flourescent lights, cellphones...4 watts estimated power consumption...30 hours

Radios, fans, depth finders...9 watts...21 hours

Camcorders, VCR's, Spotlights...15 watts...12 hours

Electric tools, bilge pumps...24 watts...7 hours

Electric coolers...48 watts...3 hours

Air compressors, car vacuums...80 watts...1.5 hours

They can be fully charged in 12 hours from any AC socket using the charging adapter, so you could ask the campsite or a kind caravan owner with a 240v system to charge it up for you for a few hours during the day if it runs dry.

I tested mine to find out how long it would last.

Plugged a 150watt invertor to it and ran a 100watt bulb.

Invertor and lightbulb probably drawing about 10 amps and it lasted nearly 2 hours before the invertor stopped.

10 amps is a lot of power, so for charging mobile, using a little 12v telly, maybe powering a small 12v light etc you should get a good weekend out of it no problem.

Don't forget though, most of these come with in car chargers so you can charge them whilst you're out for the day to prolong their use.

Hi. I used mine to power the 12v pump for my camping shower whilst on site last season.

2 people showering every day (more than once during summer)  for 8 months. I had to charge the power pack twice all season.

For small 12v appliances, they are invaluable and will last an average camping trip easily.

I agree they are invaluable  - this is my third season with the same one BUT I need a new one now as its not holding a charge for longer than a weekend.

I never go anywhere without one of these in the car anyway! For holidays I take another one.

All started some years back when my car became the support vehicle for a gang of bikers while camping, had a great time, they recharged their mobile phones, blew their air beds up all using my car - came to go on a day trip and they all bogged off on their bikes, left me and Hubby standing as the car would not start - Flat battery!  No-one on the camp site had any jump leads - so had to call on the breakdown - and that is another story !!

The one I carry around has helped a lot of people get out of trouble, fortunately since having a powerpack never had to use it to start my car!

I can run a small tv on one pack for about 6 hours, plus recharge mobiles and blow airbeds up.
