Hi

Wondering if can anyone can give me some advice on heaters we have a conway trailer tent and when camping last year some fellow campers said they had a heater but I am unsure what is the best and safest option.  It is myself, hubby, 5 year old son and dog staying in the tent.  any ideas, Also does it actualy warm the tent or does the majority of the heat escape underneath and from the mud walls etc??

We use one of these... never let us down, but does cause condensation..

Use a Coleman Blackcat Heater here when no EHU, its catalytic heater so no flames. Find this safer to use. Use a fan heater when we have EHU.

When we had the tent we always had a fan heater which warmed it up nicely and they are thermo controlled but never switch off as a some of the heat is lost under the sides.
Now we have a Caravan i purchased a halogen heater for the awning and although it's not as warm as the fan heater they shut off quick if they fall over, i think they are both safe so it depends on how much heat you require and if using a site with EHU.

Hi We use a small fan heater rather than the halogen, The fan heater heats the whole awning whereas the halogen only gives heat to whoever is directly in front of it blocking it from the rest of us ! ! They dont have the safety cut-off though, but I've not found this a problem and obviously you do have some fan noise.

We have a fan heater we bought from Argos. It heats our Hartford no problem at all. Also can be used as a fan in warm weather. It's a 1kw I think but we only ever have it on half.

Picked up Halogen heater from Wilkinson for about a tenner.  Various wattage 400/800/1200 depending on how many bulbs you have.  When tried it at home, never noticed the heat...until we turned it off.  Advantage is it can also be used as a light.  They do smaller two light heaters for about £6.
