A couple of weeks ago I ordered 4 microfibre towels from Millets web site.  After phoning a couple of times to check on the progress of the order I was only told on Thursday, after 2 weeks, that they had made a mistake with my order and it hadn't gone through to the ware house.  These towels were reduced from £19.99 to £4.99 each They then reduced them further to £2.99 each.  They sold out before completing my order and canceled the order!  

Well I was in town today and in Millets they had them on the shelf for £14.99 I asked if they could check the price as they were £2.99 on the web site.  She said no problem we will price match and I got 2 blue Storm sheild.  Went round to Blacks and they had the pink ones on their shelf marked at £19.99, but they rang through the till at £2.99! 

So to end a long tail, sorry, the towels are a bargain at £2.99 in Blacks, they will price match in Millets.  The towels are great and large 120cm x 60cm. 

So thumbs up for Blacks shop and Millets shop.  A definate thumbs down for the online Millets!

The site still has them on offer if anyone wants to chance holding them to their order

Millets will not price match their website, because i've just been in there. These towels come out at £14.99 on the till. Neither will they price match to Blacks either.

They have told me that their Millets website is a different concern to their shops.

But IMO Millets shops have always had rip off prices anyway, and i told them that.

Maybe I was just lucky.  On Saturday they priced matched without even checking.   Blacks just had them in at £2.99, but priced at £19.99!

As an apology for messing up my web order they have given me a 20% off my next order, but even with that it still works out expensive to buy stuff from them.  Mind you with no order limit, I wish I needed a tent!

Just back from Millets, they came up as £14.99 .... they will price match web, but need a printout ... (oh no not got to go in town again grrrrrrr .... remember an internet place just round the corner - 10p for printout and wow pc's FREE to use)

 

Back I trot with printout in hand ..... out I came 5 towels for £14.95 + 10p for printout hahaha .... saving £59.90

Your lucky. The Bridgwater store are adamant they cannot price match the website.

Still at least i had a good argument with them... That always brightens my day.

I phoned customer services in Millets to complain about the way my order was handled and why they were still selling them in the shops when they have cancelled customer orders.

I was told that the shops should be priced the same as online and they 100% should price match anything on their web site.  He did offer to try and locate towels for me in one of their shops.  So if you are told differently then get them to phone their customer relations dept.

Thats very interesting. I shall certainly follow that up. I wasn't really that bothered about getting one of the towels, but i do like to prove unhelpfull sales staff wrong. So Milletts Bridgwater will be getting another visit from me.

Hmmm...when I asked for a Blacks store to price-match their website price for a tent, I was told they couldn't do it, as they operate a different pricing system instore...
