I have just returned from Holland, I had a great time visiting my friend who lives Annen.
The trip was very daunting for me as it was my first driving trip solo abroad. I was an nervous wreck to begin with, driving on and off board the Ferry.
I ended up A15-A12 towards Utrecht-N33-N34. I soon settled down once I drove out of Rotterdam, ramped up my music and relaxed. On my return trip, I went onto the A50-A15 slightly longer, but nicer route. No problems, only one slight hiccup, tried to drive into the dock before the one I needed. lololol
I am so glad that I went the Hull-Rotterdam route, I found it very relaxing once on board as it was only a few hours drive. relaxed watched a bit of entertainment had a few drinks went to bed, then breakfast before my 3 hour drive.
Dinner and breakfast on the return trip bliss.
I am now looking forward to my next trip. A kibbutz reunion in Holland and looking at visiting the Black Forest, Europe is my oyster now.
My 07 reg car was fantastic, it did well.

Never found driving on the continent very difficult, done thousands of miles over some 40 years now. Never done it strictly on my own, but certainly been the only conscious one in the car, so as good as on my own when it comes to having a co-driver! ... and first trip to USA (and first drive on wrong side of road) my passenger was a non-driver, so again kind of on my own! - pick up hire car at airport, and straight out onto a 6 lane highway, kind of baptism of fire! - strange auto gearbox car, wrong side of road, fast highway, totally unfamiliar road signage, not much idea where to go AND NO Sat Nav back then - how difficult can it be!
Strange, like you, adapt straight away to driving on 'wrong side' of road, and have to think hard when arriving back in UK and being on the side of the road I've driven for over 50 years!
