Is there anywhere to give the dogs a good walk/run, preferably off-lead, within a few minutes drive from the ferry-port?
We normally use Cherbourg, where there is an excellent beach/seafront path/grassy area with paths running through it, perfect for exercising the dogs on arrival or pre-departure, 5 minutes drive from the port.
Is there anywhere similar near the port at St.Malo?
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
When you leave St Malo about a mile from the port, there is a place where you can pull over even with a TA to exercise the dogs, but they will not be able to go off lead.
Head East out of St Malo you will find a collection of pristine and beautiful bays.
Keep going and you'll come to Camping les Chevres a big but well managed and nice campsite, it runs right down to the beach.
Sunbathing during daytime, fishing at night, some campers get free mackerol for breakfast.
------------- Enjoy the liveliness of the syntax.

Thanks for the info.
We will just be in the car, but will need to let the dogs get some exercise after 12 hours or so on the ferry before the drive down to the Loire to get the caravan out of storage.

Thank you Bramston. Sounds lovely, however we won't need a campsite as we'll be driving straight down to collect our caravan from storage in the Loire.

Saint-Malo, with its ramparts and sandy beaches, is particularly popular with tourists. From May 1 to September 30, no pets are allowed on Saint-Malo's beaches.Outside the summer season, you can theoretically access all Saint-Malo beaches with your dog. However, some beaches are more suitable than others, due to their environment or the number of visitors.
The main beaches: Plage du Sillon and Plage de Bon-Secours. Dogs are allowed on a leash.
Quieter beaches: Plage de Rochebonne and Plage de l'Écluse. These beaches are generally less crowded and offer a wilder setting.
Trying to find more info on Bas Sablons, the beach nearest the port - looks only a couple of minutes away with parking by the beach. Pics and comments say it is a quiet beach.
Thank you for your help and suggestions - I think I need to do some research and go for some “virtual walks” around St. Malo with my friend Google.
I just thought someone with dogs might already know of somewhere.
