Hi, would like to know if anybody has stayed at the caravan sites near La Manga, or Mar Menor, and what you thought of them, likes/dislikes, advantages etc. or if you know of any others within that area.  Thanks Gill

Never camped there as OH parents live over there. I would go to Mar Menor as La Manga seems a long way to drive as there is no bridge across to it. And the mud baths at Mar menor are great for your skin!

We have a pace in Torrevieja and drive to Cabo de Palos quite often, and agree with the above comment. The Mar Menor acts like a gigantic aquatic roundabout. Better to seek somewhere around the Menor and travel in by car. Also handier for Cartagena.
Cheers,
Jim.

We have spent the last three winters on long stay at Caravaning La Manga. after trying most of the sites from Barcelona down to Gibraltar over the years.

A minority of dog owners don't clear up but the site have recently introduced a dog register and any owners reported are warned and can be expelled from the site if persistent offenders. As dog owners ourselves we are all for enforcing sanctions against those irresponsible owners who don't control their dogs or clean up after them.

| must admit I find the beach excellent and extremely well cared for. Contractors have just finished trimming all the palm trees and the beach is cleaned by their staff at least twice daily and there has been sand added to replace that lost over the winter

The site have invested a lot of money in the facilities which are continually being improved and there are a lot of activities organised on site for the British. If you travel with the C&CC Rally they organise their own activities as well and have their own section of the site for the winter, although personally I prefer the mixture of nationalities elsewhere.

La Manga Strip is quiet in the winter but within an hours drive are many towns and places of interest that are less touristy and busy throughout the year.

It does get full during the winter so it's well worth booking well in advance for long stays.

Sorry if it all sounds like an advert for the site, but we are all very quick to criticise when there are problems and I believe in praise where it's due.
