Evidently this car has adaptive headlights which are designed not to dazzle oncoming drivers and evidently they do not require beam deflectors to comply with EU rules.

My owners manual does not expressly state this though so I wonder if anyone whose vehicle has intelligent adaptive headlights can confirm the position.

We've still got several high viz jackets in the car and a couple of warning triangle but my other question is about spare bulbs.

My car is equipped with LED lights so there aren't any bulbs if I undertand it correctly so not sure how I could carry replacement set.

Any advice gratefully received. Thanks in advance

You can’t carry replacement LED lights, so another thing not to worry about along with dog food.

Our Tucson has adaptive LEDs but we have not found anything in the handbook to say how to change them over. Possibly not necessary.
It has the auto full beam option which automatically dips when it detects light coming towards it, also seems to work when there are streetlights.
Our previous Santa Fe had HID lights which had an option in the driver menu to swap them for driving on the right.
Our Mini has HiD lights too, the handbook just says not to use the auto headlight option if driving on the right.
You can't carry spare bulbs,I suspect all the lights are Leds and last for ages.

My previous Audi changed the headlight pattern(?) as soon as we arrived in France presumably by way of the satnav....

I believe many LED headlamps have a flat topped beam pattern without the 'kick up' to the left side (UK RHD, kick up to the right side for continental LHD cars), which is why they are universal and don't require adjustment or beam converters.

You certainly can't carry 'spare bulbs' for OEM LED lights, as they don't use 'bulbs', the LEDs are integral to the light fitting and non-replaceable as such (requires a new light fitting if faulty!). Hope some jobsworth doesn't think we should be carrying spare light fittings (under the now partially redundant legislation!!!!), that'd be a small fortune in cost and very bulky parts!

BUT, some cars have a mix of LED lamps and old fashioned bulbs (mine does)! Worth checking handbook to see if any replaceable bulbs and carry matching spares if necessary. Certainly older CX5s seem to have some old fashioned bulbs!

I have a Ford edge with LED adaptive lights, as I understand it, the LEDs have a flat beam so do not need adjustments when traveling to France, although if I remember correctly, there is a setting in my steering wheel controls to tell the camera to look on the other side of the road for oncoming vehicles,

We have a Kodiaq with LED lights and we found how to change them in the the settings in the infotainment.
