As we’re taking the dogs with us this yr, we need an AHC for them. I’ve just spoken to the vets to organise rabies vaccinations etc. and they advised they charge £300 for an AHC. They suggested that there are companies / vets who just do the AHC paperwork and are a lot cheaper. Has anyone used one of these before? Don’t want to get to the tunnel to find paperwork isn’t correct and we can’t travel.
There is the Cheshire travel vet who will do it you do the online bits it's £129 including coming to your house to check microchip and produce the AHC just before you leave.

I saw them, just wondering if anyone has used a company like this before?
This topic has cropped up regularly (I recall chat about a vet with very cheap prices at one of the UK port towns & the difficulties of parking nearby); someone might kindly post a link or you could do a search.
Long story short, yes plenty of people here have done what you’re planning: I’m sure they’ll comment soon.
I think you will find that not a lot of people on here have used the online AHC service.
We booked ours last week as they had very limited availability.
They have already been in touch with our vet for both dog history, we are just waiting on the follow up.
So far the service has been excellent.

How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
The company ( Cheshire travel pet) I emailed hasn’t even bothered to reply to me. Much as I loathe the idea of paying £300 to the vet, I would rather know it will be done ad it is a very tight window 1-10 days before travel . I’m someone who likes everything sorted otherwise I get worried!

You also asked a question in this thread about dog food but never got back to any of us who replied.
Did the replies give you the info you required?

I thought about using the service of a vet located in ? Kent en-route to France where I would need to take my dog to be scanned to confirm his microchip etc., before his AHC would be released to me.
However, I decided against it for the reason of increase in stress having to time the vet visit right and to allow for potential additional delays on top of traffic delays etc...

Not on this group, but another, I would say that those using on-line vets is now about half and half to those to with their own vet. There are generally no problems as on-line AHC vets do so many more and are very experienced at 'getting it right'.
On the other hand you could have an honest vet like ours, who charged us £90 for the first AHC and each subsequent one has been £60.
I’d be happy to use our vet but I think £600 for the two dogs is a little steep. We’re going to go with Cheshire Vet. We have enough time to go back to our vet .
Normally a vet wouldn't charge you the same price for two dogs, the second is normally discounted. That is of course if they are both getting done at the same time.

After having just paid 225 GBP for an AHC for this year's European trip for 2 weeks, gone up from 180 GBP from last year as far as I can remember, I shall definitely look into going down the route of AHC online via the vets in Kent!!!
I shall factor in potential delays by traffic etc., might even factor in an overnight stop near the vets, it would probably still be cheaper!!!
