A few years ago there was much discussion of the whereabouts of the Golden Oriole. This piqued my interest, and I’d been, sort of, hoping to find one.
Today, taking a stroll over the river from the Huttopia Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne, along a quiet country road, heard an unfamiliar bird call. Got the Merlin app going, loved by RSPB members, and it was the said bird.
I thought these things were so elusive, I’d never get a peek; then heard the call again. I stopped an listened for a while, the suddenly saw a flash of yellow and black, and maybe a couple of others high in the tree canopy, in a stand of ash trees.
Might not be much, but to be honest, it’s made my holiday! Well, that and the Vultures, but that’s a different tale.
