I have never been back to the same place twice, but would definately go back there.

Traffic is a problem if you want to go out and about and explore the region, which had some stunning places. We went up to the gorges one day and it took less than an hour, then made mistake of going again on a saturday morning and where stuck on the road out of agde for over an hour in stationary traffic. Not pleasant. When we did get there it was empty though.

We too walked most places. I think it is a new service, or so they said, but not sure how new, but there is now a water taxi which runs between agde and the grau and it stops at the campsite. It cost 2 euros return and children were free. A very pleasant way of getting around and a very cheap way of getting a boat trip!

Water taxi was definitely there in July 2006, can't remember wheter it was there in 2005. I think not, my daughter thinks it was.

Never had a problem with traffic other than the day the Tour de France went past. But we were there in mid July before the main holiday season.

Once we got our heads around when and when not to attempt to go on the roads it wasnt too bad. It was more the getting in and out, bad first thing in morning and tea time, then obviously at weekends with people coming and leaving. It was ok once we got a really detailed local map and found the back routes which made a big difference. Still wasnt enough to put me off going back. My only one slight annoyance was the go kart place across the river. There were a number of nights when you could hear the drone of the cars until very late, well past my bedtime (not that that was that late).

It was your comments that sealed it as our holiday destination, so I really cant thank you enough.

The Go Kart place was annoying - I'd forgotten about that, but we just got used to it. It seemed to be worse at weekends, but we were only there there for a week each time.

The campsite did a book with all the local attractions, shops etc in (free) and in the back was a really good map of the local area. We just tore the map out and used that all the time - very useful. The book wasn't great as mainly adverts, but the map was superb.

I don't usually like recommending sites as there is a lot of personal taste and I would hate to recommend someone to go somewhere for their main holiday and them not like it, so I am really glad you had a good time. Look out for the christmas card from them - a nice touch I think!!

hi pinklizzie and Janet, pink lizzie, I am interested in how your kids enjoyed the holiday as we are thinking of going next August ( last 2 weeks) we drove past the site last week as stayed about an hr away and thought it was worth a look to see how we liked the area. What were the pitches like? Are you able to state a preference, as I would not want to be backing onto the road. Were there any other English there? We dont like loads of Brits, but nice if the kids can find friends. I see you have a fairly big tent, did it fit the pitch ok and are the pitches grassy? The site we stayed at had dreadful soil/ dust pitches. How much of a problem was the go kart noise? Lastly how were the showers/ toilets. Thanks, any help much appreciated

Pitches are quite large - we had a cabanon antigua when we went and we fitted on fine, although I think we would have needed a larger pitch for the stratos. Like most campsites the pitches vary. We had the same pitch both years we were there.

The pitches are grassy, but at the end of August you must be prepared for them to be dry and dusty if the weather has been good (we wne around Bastille Day). The pitches are delimited by bushes and there are drip hoses running round the site which water these bushes.

Very few of the pitches back onto the road. Go kart noise was mainly at weekends when we were there and it was a dull drone in the background.

The showers and toilets were always clean and plenty of hot water. You do need to provide your own toilet paper as it is a really weird system - like a stack of tissues in a dispenser quite high on a wall OUTSIDE the toilets!!!! These quickly ran out, so just easier to take your own.

Not many English on site but my daughter really enjoyed it (she was 16/17) and usually likes to meet some English but the site was so nice she wasn't bothered. We tend to keep ourselves to ourselves anyway.

Hi pager 33
As Janet has said, pitches were large, enough to accommodate our very large sunncamp vario 9 tent, and yes, whilst they were grassy and flat there was a lot of dust simply because it had not rained for so long.

I found the toilets and showers near our end of the site were not as nice as the main block. However they were cleaned several times a day and it only took 2 minutes to walk to the main block anyway.

I wouldnt let the go kart noise put you off. It really was only a background drone on odd nights. Certainly not all the time, and it didn't stop me sleeping. Think it depended on which way the wind was blowing. Probably 3 nights out of 17 in which I really noticed it, and it was only once everyone in bed and site was so silent.

There were only 3 other british families on site while we were there. My kids are aged 9, 5 and 2. Think the 9 year old would have liked to have made some friends, but my 5 year old struck up a friendship with a little girl near us and he was very happy. 9 year old says it didnt stop her fun. I found site very safe for them to allow them some freedom to wander about a bit on their own. They loved the pool and very small little games room.

Not sure about picking a pitch as we booked late and there was only one pitch left. As Janet said, very few back on to the road.

Nicest site I think I have been on. Saw others as we travelled around and felt we had made the right choice.

Liz
