Paul,

I am surprised by what you say about the Tom Tom routing. Not being rude but have you checked your setup for routing.Tom Tom uses Navteq mapping which is generally considered the better one.Having ended up in Paris once i would advise against it unless you have to.The routing south normally takes you around Paris via the autoroute system before getting to the A6 which is the main route south but not cheap.

Just to add my twopenneth............

If you're experienced in driving on the British motorway system, then Paris is a doddle.

If you only drive as far as yor nearest Tescos, then the odd jaunt for a weekend, Paris will be a nightmare !

I have a Tomtom 510, what do you mean by route settings?  It doesnt actually take you through the centre of Paris but around the outskirts, we came back that way using tom tom last year and it was a doddle.  I suppose tom see's it at as being a slightly shorter route, weard!!!!
