Has anyone heard of using toothpaste as an insect repellant? This was a tip given to me by a lady from the West Indies, but I'm not sure if it was for real!!

Hi carolee,I remember at Delphin Verde, the O/H got bit by some bloody ferocious mozzies equipped with knife and fork!! so off to the local small shop at Pals and asked the locals what they used.... Autan and Piriton tablets did the trick but everyone had the candle stuff burning, a lot of folk had this electric thingy that gave everything an electric shock (wondered why the kids were holding hands and touching the bloody thing, the mozzies loved it ..!!!!!! lol

Vinegar.....just rub it on, cheaper than afterbite...it does really work, locals here in france told me about it, a friend in Greece uses, barcarb soda mixed with a little olive oil to a paste and that works also.
