Hi Claire,
We are going out on Thursday 7th to arrive at the site on Friday 8th - as I said we have a really easy journey - 1 1/2 hours to our friends then 4 1/2 in the morning on to the site. It'll be a bit of a novelty arriving on time as we are normally the last to arrive and fraught is putting it mildly!
We always stop with our friends who moved out in 2000 - our trailer tent lives in their barn - we have an arrangement - they look after our tt , air it , pack it away when it is wet, etc, put it up for us when we need it - and we bring out essentials like Bisto, porage and Monster Munch for their kids. Don'ty knock it - it works for us! We had a particularly bad holiday one year when Brittany Ferries clunked us down off a ramp and broke the jockey wheel - you would think you could pick up a jockey wheel for a French tt in France - no way - the French models don't have jockey wheels! Anyhow, after that , bearing in mind the cost of taking the tt on the ferry, we decided to leave the beast in Brittany! So far it has all worked well. We have a large Khyam Rigidome and trailer for UK camping - it is so much easier to dry a Khyam off in the garden- and it does not get quite so messy with the Labs. The only downside was we had to duplicate on other items like cookers and bedding, but hey ......so far so good. Ot means we just pack clothes in the car, food for our friends and we are off. My friend, bless her, even washes the bedding and towels for me!! She is a saint!
After the week I have had - and it is only 1/2 over - I need to have something to look forward to in order to keep sane! I have decided, in my infinite wisdom, that I no longer like children - a real problem as a Year 4 teacher of 32 llittle darlings! I am totally p***d off with being shouted at, sworn at and threatened by stroppy parents. Because of "the way things are" nowadays I - and my colleagues I hasten to add - am no longer allowed to raise my voice to a child - regardless of them effing and blinding me, it is not advisable for me to be alone in a room with a child or group of children for fear of reprisals/ allegations, I can not criticise anything a child in my care does- "what a pity your writing is a bit messy today , Brian, it was much better yesterday " - not allowed as I am being critical! The world has gone mad!!! Mad. I say, Mad!!!!!
Am going to pour myslef a glass of wine to calm down!!!! Oops , dyslexic moment me thinks!
