We are looking to book this site for August 2008, but have been told by Eurocamp when enquiring today that this site does not accept teenagers and we have a 16 year old.

Do they mean that over 12 is classed s an adult for charging purposes or do they not acually take teenagers which I find suprising?

Sorry I should have mentioned we were told by Eurocamp Independant (we wanted to take the caravan), does this site take teenagers?

Yes - definitely, if you mean L'Ardechois at Vallon.  See all the previous postings - it was my sons' favourite site when they were teenagers.  It will mean that your 16 year old is charged as an adult.  An alternative might be that they don't allow parties of teenagers to book in as a party and occupy a pitch in their own right - but there's no problem in their own tent as part of a family occupying one pitch.

Hiya, i`m very new to this site and i think i`ve pressed a wrong button already, never mind. my question is a brief one to you regarding your Sunncamp Oasis 700.i am curious as to your mention of the ceasing of manufacture of this tent.we have or should i say had one of these bought in September 2006 used first in Spring of 2007 destroyed during a sudden storm in July!. We attempted to replace all of our Alloy Poles through Sunncamp/sunnflair only to be told that no replacements were available as the tent was no longer being made. Any information you have would be appreciated as we have`nt given up just yet! many thanks, Rich
Hi - we had problems too with a pole and in the end Sunncamp did offer to sell us a pole - I just kept emailing them saying that their customer care was poor if they couldn't provide spare poles for a tent that was only 1 year old. Keep emailing them. I think the reason they stopped making it was because of a legal case that they had copied another make of tent - It has been raised on this forum before where someone had more information - do a search

Caroline.

We are in the process of booking now for August this year. A lot of it's down to Val A (recommended it in preference to Pommier) and your Review. It is expensive isn't it. But would you say worth the money? We have daughters aged 11 and 12 so we're doing it for them. However, it sounds like we'll be happy too with lots to see and do in and around as a family.

Like a previous correspondent we are hoping to hire a fridge - done it before in France and it makes a real difference. We've been given an email address but it doesn't exist. Any ideas? Is it worth the effort?

Have you managed to get in yourselves this year?

Any further tips or advice? We're travelling from the Dordogne (on a Saturday) and on to Burgundy (the following Saturday) so a week on site.

They say they allocate pitches on arrival. Does that work out well? Are they all good pitches?

Many thanks.

Neil B.

Hi Neil

It is a lovely site - and for me it is worth it as the toilets are spotless, the pool really nice and not too cold and the restaurant not too expensive. I tend to like sites that you can walk to a town/village and this is great. As Val said in another post it is a short walk and the village is lovely with a square and lots of bars and ice-cream parlours and a merry-go-round in the middle!

I didn't see any hired fridges. We have a small electric cool box type fridge which we use for milk, butter and beer. We ended up buying from the camp shop as it was quite well stocked.

The entertainment in August last year was very good but you could just ignore it if it wasn't your thing and it did finish at midnight. It was always outside the bar and if you wanted to have a meal while watching it you certainly had to book a table.

We are not going to book this year as we are going in the last two weeks of August so should be ok. When you arrive they take you on a golf trolley and show you a couple of pitches. They are all nice pitches.

One of our day trips was a visit to the harribo(?) sweet factory. Cannot remember where it was but we also had a lovely meal in the nearest town (Ales) which is a gorgeous place. Obviously there is the river and the canoes but my two are too young - you need to be 7.

Hope this helps

Caroline

Have just been reading the comments on this site as we are booked on a Grand Comrort pitch 28th July -12th August. We are planning on stopping twice on the way down but would like to get up to Amiens just with one stop on the way back, Does this sound reasonable or should we stop twice again. We are towing a caravan so we need to take it steady.

Thanks

We've done this journey many times - and usually only have one overnight stop - often at Lac de Panthier at Vandenesse (near Dijon).  There are lots of other sites nearby, including a lovely municipal at Beaune.  We then manage to get to Calais (or Chateau du Gandspette) for our last night.  We're towing, too.
