Hi

We're there from 12/8. This is our first camping trip to France and are looking forward to it. We have children, so hoping they will find plenty to do.

It's a lovely area, and a lovely site (see my review in the reviews section for more info).   It's also a very child-friendly site (what age are they? ours are 6 and 4 and love it there).

Our's are 10, 7 and 5. Is there much to do around the area too?

Hi there,

Just thought, we are using EHU for the first time this year at Le Logis - is there any problem with reverse polarity or will we be ok with the standard hook up thingy.

No problems.   Standard 16A blue sockets. I polarity checked it and it tested fine.   You have to specify whether you want 6A or 10A supply - they will install the relevant rated circuit breaker when you arrive.

Here's some ideas for you:
- lovely beaches along this stretch of coast. One of the best is at "les combots", the Royan side of la Palmyre (when you get to the beach, turn left for clothed, and right for not!).

- Royan town and seafront - all the usual seaside attractions.   There's a lovely walk along the promenade with funfairs, puppet shows, beach sports etc..

- St Palais - only 3 miles from the site - very nice little seaside town - lots of kid's activities on the beach.

- la Rochelle - go to the aquarium for a great day out if it rains!   Good restaurant at the aquarium too.

- Cognac - another good day out. Go for a guided tour around the distilleries and taste the cognac.   I'd recommend Otard as the best one. Kids may be bored but it's quite historical.

The site itself has a fantastic children's play area - it's huge - the best I've ever seen on a site and a pool, so there's plenty to do. Also, take a kite to fly on the "field" in the middle of the campsite - it's a huge area between the reception/shop/pool and where all the pitches are, and is great for kite flying.

Hope this is useful!

I can certainly recommend a visit to Cognac. We have done a few of the Cognac distilleries and rate the Remy Martin tour the best. We have been back a few times to stock up with 1738 Accord Royal, an excellent cognac blend. Remy is a couple of miles out of Cognac at Merpins.

The last time that we stayed at Logis Du Breuil we went on the coach trip, organised by Christian, to Cognac. We had a tour of the Otard distillery and then a trip on the river to a restaurant where we had an excellent meal

Hi Guys been reading your comments, we last visited the site about seven years ago,  after 4 years on the trot, when the kids were younger and it was always a good holiday, so we thought lets go back and see the changes, does Christian still go round the site around 11pm ish and have a glass of wine with you, he used to drive a very old fiat panda and after many stops you could see its lights weave its way back to his house, he used to tell all those who were still up " tonight it is tommorrow" meaning no noise time to go to bed etc. Great times and memories here. We shall be there from the 3rd Aug but going to the Dordoigne first and we are getting the same ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge 25/26July as AndyR so look out for us in the queue Black XC 90 & Fleetwood Heritage T/A our friends Keith/Jenny have Sorrenta & Sterling T/A hope you all have a good time, Ken & Sue

Hi Askill

We have just come back from Royan, had a great time and the weather there is great one days rain out of nineteen and warm with it.

Some friends of ours went over the ferry at Royan and drove down the other side of the estuary , there is another ferry further down that you can cross over to come back up this side.

They had a good day out and would recomend it, they found some good wine and good food.

Have a great holiday we did.

Hi deltaman,

Thanks for that, I'm so pleased to hear you had a great holiday and that the weather was good whilst you were there. We are still planning our trip over the estuary and have heard that the ferries go every half an hour in the main season, so that should be fine. We sail to Caen 3 weeks tomorrow, I'm going to start getting organised this weekend.

Kena, yes Christian still des the night patrol at about 11pm, he now has a golf buggy so he's really quiet and often catches people out. The whole Gagnard family are still so friendly and helpful, I'm sure you'll have another great holiday there.
