Hello Val A.  Can pitch numbers/layout be found anywhere on the boucanet website?? I can't seem to find them. Am wanting to book for mid August but worried about pitch sizes on the beachfront pitches. Are they smaller than those set further back?

We will be taking a vango vista 800 tunnel tent 7.5m x 3.25m. Children are 13,11,9 and 6.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

The beachfront pitches are probably the largest - but you have to pay a supplement of 5 euros per night for them - but we love them.  We were on pitch 211 and our caravan is at least 7m long.  We parked 'lengthwise' on the pitch, not across it.  We had loads of room behind for loungers, and table and chairs between the end of the van and the 'rocks' - and room in front to park the car.  It was also wide enough to accommodate the awning (2.5m) and allow another couple of metres between us and the next pitch, with enough room to get down the side of the van to service the water pump, drainage container, etc. Our pitch had a couple of trees, and enough shade for us - but we do like the sun.  A couple two pitches up from us had caravan, awning, extra side awning, sun canopy, large hammock, and other bits and pieces on their pitch!   We had a water point and hook-up bollard at the end of our pitch which was very handy - and made sure you got to know everyone as they came to use the water tap.

If you have a look at Geoportail, type in Le-Grau-Du-Roi, move the 'Outils' down to select somewhere between Rue and Maison,  then move the 'picture' to the left, keeping along the sea-edge,  you'll see the campsite at Boucanet (with a swimming pool) - you can zoom in enough to be able to see individual pitches, but bear in mind that the middle section of beachside pitches is now take up with mobile homes, as are many of the other larger pitches.

I don't think they give the pitch layout on the website, but their computer system in reception allows you to look at the depth and width of each pitch.  If you ring and ask (they speak good English) then they'll be able to advise of which pitches are suitable.  I'll post a picture which may give you an idea, on my gallery, if you like (though the quality of the picture is not good.

Val

Thanks for the update. We are thinking of the S 0f F for later in the year but are thinking of going back to Port Grimaud and hoping the N98 won't be so busy!!!

Sorry, don't know this pitch at all.  Somewhere in the caravan we have a site map, which I'll try to find tomorrow and locate pitch 244.  84 sq m sounds smaller than the pitch we were on, but unfortunately  I can't remember the dimensions of that pitch,  compared with the 100m or more pitches we're used to - but in fact it was perfect for us.

Have you got any alternative sites in mind, if you can't get on to Boucanet.  I may be able to help.

Remembered where pitch 244 is!  When we wanted to stay on because of the weather we were offered pitch 243!  244 must be the next door beachside pitch, at the La Grau du Roi end of the site.  They're the ones with more sand 'duned' against the rocks - but it gives quite a nice feel to the pitch.  I can't remember any specifics of the pitch itself - but just check that the washblock at that end of the site is going to be open (it wasn't when we were there - but probably because many of the pitches at that end were still vacant).

Val, very glad to hear that Boucanet is still ticking the boxes and that your pitch was good. I am staying on pitch 212 next month for a couple of weeks. Can't wait,it's our first trip to the med, we are also using l'epeviere on the way there and back.

Are the pitches roomy enough?? the website pictures don't really show much.I use a defender with a roof tent and awning.

i will post a review on my return.
