Well after much searching and speaking to others we have booked 2 weeks at Las Dunas.

We found a Rally in the C Club mag and managed to get on it.

The pitches seem big for Spain (100m2) and the cost with the rally was much cheaper than going direct to the site.

Before Las Dunas we are at the camping ebroasis site for 1 week.

We are going to use the tunnel (paid with Tesco vouchers!) for both ways.

Can anyone suggest a good site in france to break the journey?

Have you worked out which route you'll be using?  This will affect suggestions for overnight stops - and do you just want one overnight stop, or a couple?   We've done the journey to Cambrils Park quite often, and usually take the A75 route (free autoroute down from Clermont Ferrand) rather than the Rhone Valley, which is often recommended.   We generally have a couple of overnight stops, which means we can arrive at Cambrils in good time.   Come back with your route - or if you haven't decided - for route recommendations, and then someone will come along with some good suggestions for overnight stays.

Hi

Depends what you want, we usually stay at Mas Nou Empuriabrava  (commonly known in our family as Little Venice) near the Bay of Roses Costa Brava - not too many English on the site and have made many friends from different nationalities and we usually meet up for a few days as our holidays crossover.  There is a kids club, large swimming pool close to supermarket.  Only downside is it is about a 15minute drive to beach.

I think it can also be booked through the caravan club now.

Hi. Belena Allegre is a lovely site, on the beach with large pitches and fully serviced pitches.  I have left a review on here.

Great choice, great campsite one one of the nicest beaches in the world. Great place for kids too.

When driving down we usually stop in a Formule 1 motel, they are basic and clean. We have 3 kids (4, 6 and 10) and have driven down a couple of times now. The best formula is to drive 2 hours and stop for breakfast and a play, drive for 4 hours and stop for a couple of hours for lunch and a walk / play drive 4 hours and stop for dinner then drive a couple of hours and stop for the night (usually about 10pm) - you can get from Calais to Las Dunas in 1.5 days like this and have time to pitch the tent before it gets too late

Matt

We can't make up our mind as to whether to go to Ballena Allegre or Las Dunas.

I have seen good things said about both camp sites. Can anyone tell me whether one site is any better than the other?

Thanks

Chris

Further to previous posts, been  on ferry that way  a few times now, and again this year and wether just lucky but always been fine. Think its an urban myth !!

Its no urban myth have travelled that way quite a few times and on a couple have had bad weather, one time having to spend an extra 15hrs out at sea, and on other times its been like a mill pond.
