Have just got back and can report that no seam sealant was required although the tent was well and truly tested weather wise!! We were in France for 15 days and it rained every night bar about 2, unbelievable!! However most days were reasonably dry so we were quite happy. We never had to put up or take the tent down in any thunderstorms (I am a worrier) or even rain so I count myself very lucky!
The only time any water came into the tent was after one particularly heavy night of rain, following on from several others, and we think it just dripped in from the ground if this is possible. The site was slightly sloping so we think some ground water just got in. On the whole very pleased with tent, it dried out very quickly and was spacious and light when we were trapped inside.
Thanks for the tips anyway I shall bear them in mind when we next go!!
