mzzy, we always go the last 2 weeks of August. Could you do this? The sites are cheaper and quieter generally. Could you use tesco vouchers to book the eurotunnel?
Yes thats an idea! We went end of Aug before and had nice weather.
Just been looking at sites in Cornwall but only one I liked the look of (magic cove) is already full for the whole of Aug! Now when it comes to France I know there are loads of places to go! Think I better get some over time in at work! Lol

hi mzzy, we spent a night at Magic Cove this July (couldnt get in for any longer) and whilst its a lovely site it dosent compare with France IMHO. We have had fantastic weather the last 2 years at the end of August.
Also consider getting an ACSI card or look into camping cheques, it brings the cost down considerably.

I don't think anybody has said there's anything wrong with booking early, have they? Only that they are still booking for this year!
Glad you got sorted Pager. We are partially booked i.e. we are booked in both ways at Novotel Colmar and have a pitch reservation with Bella Italia, but as no deposit is taken until December we are STILL waiting for Camping Del Garda to even respond to our pitch request in order to make our final decision between the two. Should probably get ferry booking organised really I suppose.

We've paid the deposit at our French site enroute to Garda 9and got our preferred pitch as we talked to the owner at the NEC show recently!) but Piantelle arent taking the deposit til November. They've let us choose our pitch (gone for the more open XXL near the pool) already though which is good. I'm really looking forward to Italy. We are there for 10 nights and hope to leave the MH onsite and make us of our bikes, the boats around the lake and take the train to Venice.
It may not be the most direct route via Burgundy but it works for us and I'm looking forward to seeing Mont Blanc and the journey outwards tbh. No decisions on route home yet but will proabably come back the same way as its only 10 euros more for a return ticket through the MB tunnel and if we come back through Switzerland we have to pay extra to use the autoroute due to the weight of the MH.

Ooh thanks for that Francais I will do a comparison with P&O later.
I think if you have the time then it sounds like a more pleasant route to take especially with the MH - we on the other hand shall be hardcoring it through Switzerland. Thats the nice thing about Piantelle is being able to select your pitch and view most of them beforehand - I would definitely pay more for a Sequoia sized pitch if available. The key attraction with Del Garda as tbh as we like Piantelle & Bella Italia too for different reasons, is that you can walk a little further around the lake to a village with shops and restaurants, which we missed being able to do at Sequoia this year. Hopefully they will get in touch soon.

Francais your a star. Just booked for next Aug with norfolk line using the code you gave. £65.00 return !!!!!!! Way cheaper than any other quote i have managed to get.
Wow Francais where did you get that from!!!! We now have a return crossing next August for £49!! Hubby's respect for this website just keeps growing ha!
There was a post on here going some days ago with the NL code, some kind of link up with the CC and the show at the NEC, that finished last weekend, along with the code, but it appears to still be working. got my July return crossing car and trailer for £58 happy days.
