After some extensive internet research we have settled on the following campsites

Lake Como

Bellagio Camping

Lake Garda

Camping Nanzel

The Lake Garda one is a bit all singing all dancing which isn't what we were after but looks close enough to what we wanted!

If, by all-singing all-dancing, you mean pool and club etc then Camping Nanzel has neither, it's just as I stated in my previous post. I don't know if it's because of my suggestion that you chose it, but I don't think you'll be disappointed, it really is nice.

When I went with my ex two years ago we only spent 24 hours there but were so impressed we fully intended having a full week there last year, however we had split by then so I holidayed on my own and just went across from Malcesine and spent a few hours there. No doubt I'll do the same again this year.

If you want any info about the area before you go then give me a shout.

Well I can give you plenty of information about the Lake Garda area itself but sorry, I can't tell you anything about driving there as we never have - we fly.

We will be going from Florence up to Lake Garda and then on to Lake Como - the first part of our trip will be from Calais to Cinque Terre (NW Italy) - have been advsied by a friend to stop on the way down as its a very ong drive and will need an overnight break - think we are just going to see how afr we get and hopefully find somewhere to stay en route.

Just need to work out our route now!
