Just got back from there last weekend for what was our second visit.

would also agree that Parc Astrix is good and even better if you can go free using Tesco points as we did.  There are just about enough bigger rides for your older kids though beware if going on the very twisty roller coaster (you will know it when you see it) as we all got whiplash not realising that we had to keep our heads back for the whole ride.

The site its self is great and as always if your kids make friends that will be all they need.  If any of them are boys then it is football all day long and the pool inside and out are good.

In terms of eating there the main place is rubbish but they now have a new fancy place to eat by the lake beach which was quite busy when we were there but looked nice.    We just had the pancakes and a few drinks there which were cheap enough for the pancakes but quite dear for the drink.  The take a way is ok for pizza, chips and the chicken is realy chicken not the kfc style stuff.

As above the  caslte at Pierrefonds is worth a visit and for us was a good place to go on a rainly day.   Paris is near enough of course and worth a trip.  You can walk up the Eiffel tower for a fraction of the lift price and without the long queues too.  About 3 euro each last year. Hypermarket at Sossions for cheaper food shops and a walk round or Compiegne is bigger with lots of shops.   Nearby there is one of those high wire tree adventure places but not been ourselves.   Over the bar there is a pool (table)/pinball arcade and internet access that no doubt teenagers will also hang about in and I have seen a disco advertised but no evidence of that when we were there (though it was lower season)

travel wise from Calais it is the A16 to A26 to A1 (tolls)  coming off at Compiegne and going mainly by the N31 until near the site,  around 15.10 euro each way and about 2.5 hrs drive.  Very easy to do even with a broken satnav(as we managed to have in both cars of our party!)

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
