i am a planner.  I love this site, log on faithfully with my cup of tea every morning to relax me before the stresses of the day's work.  I google all the recommended sites, get my map out, check what's of interest in the area, plan to go there then get another recommendation, check that out, change my mind - and this goes on for a full year.  I must say though I had pretty much made my mind up fairly early on this year with a plan A and a plan B.  We went with plan B and werent disappointed.  One of the stopover sites this year (again a recommendation from here) I plan to incorporate into the holiday next year for a week or so.  My current 2011 plan is taking shape.  In the main when I am reading recommendations there are certain "buzz" words that attract me.  Scenic, walks, dogs, authentic always get my attention and so does rowdy, lively, teenagers, geared for families etc - the last lot usually rule me out even looking.

Crikey next year? I haven't worked out where we are going for half term in Oct/Nov yet. I love to plan the holiday and my OH has no interest in where we go. As long as we don't have to drive too far.

I love the planning too. This year I didn't start til April and still managed to change my mind (sorry, our minds!) four times. So that's about one change per month! Have seen a site on here that I think fits the bill for next year but I'll have to check out a hundred or so more before I convince myself it's the best one. Did that with Val de Cantobre this year. Saw the site in a brochure, fell in love with it immediately, discounted it on various reasons, looked at lots of other places, then came to the conclusion Val de Cantobre was the site I wanted to go to all along. And I'm so glad I went with my gut instinct.

Oh, how many hours of my life can drift away while I dream of all those places I want to visit, and the fun I can have being able to change my mind so many times. I'm already getting excited about next year.

Years and years and years back, in my teenage years, my Mum took me on holiday to just south of Dubrovnik. That was back in the days of Yugoslavia! It was beautiful. No sand on the beaches but that seemed to make the sea sooooo clear. I would imagine the entire coast was stunning :)

I'd been talking to H about how the north isn't further than many parts of Italy. Showed him the campsite prices. Showed him photos. He seemed to be coming round to the idea. Then he spoke to someone, at work, who is from Croatia. H now has the idea that the tourist industry isn't set up enough there.

I'm all set for a slow journey up through France / Germany. Main stay in Croatia. Then on the return a stop over at Europa Park. H will have different ideas.

I too have started early planning, I even got out the brochure during this years hols to start getting ideas.  Just sorted dates out as we want to go with another family and the OH's sister gives us her wedding date, right in the middle!!!  Did want Dordogne and have been avidly following recommendations on this site, however, may have to cut hols short so may not get to go that far south.

I love the research and planning too! We're not going to France in 2011 but i've already starting thinking about 2012! New for us that year will be no kids but dogs with us instead!

2012!! now thats serious commitment.

We first went to France without the kids a few years ago and did wonder what it would be like without them, obviously they had always been a big part of our holiday. As it turns out we loved it! We now go to the smaller less hectic sites, get to see more of France and just love being without the extra hassle (small pang of guilt!). I suppose its a case of done that, been there. Were still fairly young (we had kids way too early) so were just enjoying doing the stuff we didnt do when we were younger.

Im looking for a west coast site at the moment, one which is a bit laid back, but they seem mainly to be biggish all singing sites. Keep on lookin I guess!

Didn't go this year - massive trip across Canada, so I can't complain. Already planning for next summer.
