Lots of members on here do take their dogs abroad MrsG26 and they all have a fab hol but one that is geared towards the family with dog. I'm sure you will have a brilliant holiday and perhaps your campsite can recommend a day kennels locally and you could get to see some attractions together if you are happy to put your dog in for the day. The french are nuts about their dogs and I'm sure he would be well looked after.

Yes do take the dog as I said before it will be fine the French love dogs and take them everywhere into shops restaurants. café's nearly everywhere. We do not take ours into shops or restaurants but we do everywhere else I have a box on the back of my bike that he sits in so he misses nothing. (he is a westie) First time we went to the beach it said no dogs so we walked down just to have a look at the beach and when we got there nearly everyone had a dog the French take sunshades for their dogs we now have one which he lays under with water ect when we asked someone about the sign they said that's what the French do put up signs but ignore them and we have been on many beaches since. Well he's packed and ready for the off passport, injection book, mirco chip card, food, sunshade, bowls ect it like taking an extra child.
Our dog is currently on her tenth trip. We wouldn’t leave her behind as we come away for up to six weeks at a time. She’s been welcomed on boat trips and into the grounds of several chateaux. Just yesterday, we were stopped on a beach in Spain by a local who wanted to make a fuss of her as he also has a cocker.
We make sure we always have water for her and a water spray to cool her if necessary. . Taking a dog does change the holiday, though. We don’t do big cities anymore, we choose places with lakes or rivers so she can swim. We can’t often wander round supermarkets together anymore either as one of us needs to stay with the dog but sometimes, if there’s a supermarket very close to the site, we’ll leave her for half an hour and go off together.

We take a small dog to France with us and yes she does stop you visiting places like Paris and going on coach trips and the like. But we have customized our trips so she does not stay in the van. After all we are in France for 2 months and she does have her passport. Just have to find shade for her although I don't like sitting in the sun. And a beach holiday for me would a no no. But each to their own eh?

don't have a dog myself but have been to Disneyland Paris and can tell you that they have their own day kennels near the entrance to the park.
Thanks soo much that is exactly the kind of information i was looking for! Off to look it up. I want us all to enjoy this holiday and to have the right balance between trips out with our dog, ie parks, walks etc but also to keep my 3 (will then be 4) yr old entertained!

We are also taking our dog to France and hope to go to Disneyland and leave our dog at their kennels. We have been told you do not have to book them in, however you need a rabies vaccination cert of less than 1 year old. Our dog's rabies vaccination is more than 1 year but still valid with the pet passport for going abroad with . Does anyone know if we have to get another vaccination and if so why. (I see MrsG26 that your pet is less than 1 year, so you may not have been concerned about this but if you have any further info that you have found out that would be very helpful). We are staying at the Yelloh Village site near Provins about 1 hour from Disneyland Paris.
We have had our dog in kennels at theme parks other than Disney and no one has asked if they had current vaccinations. In Brittany the vets don't vaccinate for rabies unless you insist, as they say there is no rabies here and it is a waste of money. Ours was vaccinated because we went to Belgium and was given a passport for Europe but not Britain. I should think that the passport would be sufficient.
A lot of the rules came in before the three year vaccine was introduced. I am not sure whether or not a dog would need a microchip. as all dogs here are supposed to have one or a tattoo, Disneyland rules say you need them tattooing but tattooing is fazing out with most people having microchips.
