Typical Breton weather, scorching hot on Monday and torrential rain as the poor riders struggled up Mur de Bretagne. As soon as all the riders were in the sun came out. At my insistence we walked up Mur de Bretagne hill and found a good spot very near the end of the stage. OH Grumbled all the way but was more than happy with all the free stuff he was given. Including the shandy's. We were soaking wet but it was great.
People were so well behaved there were thousands there and the only time the Gendarmes spoke to anyone was to tell them to get closer to the side as we all walked down the hill to get to the free car parks at the bottom, as the team coaches were coming down. It always amazes me that there are so few Police directing traffic at big events and how smoothly and quickly hundreds of cars sort them selves out and leave an area. There was one Policeman who basically just stopped people going up the hill as the road was blocked.
Camper vans came into their own, there were dozens in a couple of fields many British ones. I do not think anyone was charging parking fees.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Nothing to do with holidaying but, those people who watch TdF on ITV4 will perhaps have sat through the competition - how to enter, the rules, the costs, the prizes, the addresses &c - but I've not yet heard a question .... weird ....
