I would hate to put a damper on your eurocamp booking but......

I thought the state of their tents was disgusting. I can't speeak for the inside but the outside was covered in grime, bird droppings  and general dirt. The windows were filthy and the location was mainly under trees. I would have complained profusely if I had booked one of their tents and arrrived to find them like that.

Keycamp, on the other side, were all bright and airy, totally different.

Nikki I notice you are going to La Guyonniere this year. Why not call into La Garangeoire and have a look.

It shouldn't make any difference what model of tent they are they should all be looking good.

I would like to add that sometimes it is not the company as a whole that are at fault but the area supervisor and couriers on a particular campsite who just dont care or bother.

This kind of thing does need reporting to the area supervisor and also a letter to Eurocamp head office.

We have used Eurocamp in the past and found them OK although we preferred Canvas.

Not being a camper I don't know the difference. They just looked like the usual frame tent design to me, canvas made up of the eurocamp colours. They did look very old.

We stayed at the Garangeoire last year and I think the safari tents are separate from the main eurocamp area.  The usual frame tents did look quite old and unkempt but the safari tents looked lovely from the outside and peeking inside looked like they had proper beds.  They are situated at the far end of the site by a path to the lake.  Only downer I could think of - the slope is quite steep to walk up to the main area of the site, although we do live in a very flat part of sussex so not used to hills!

We booked the safari tents yesterday. Had phoned and put an early reservation on them a month ago as we wanted the only 2 on site because we are going with friends. Eurocamp put a hold on them for us and then phoned as soon as they had prices yesterday.

Re quality of tents - lewlincs took photos of them when he was at garangeoire this may and posted the on a thread in camping under canvas- called posh safari tents ( have just bumped up) They look lovely and much nicer than the basic tents that we have stayed in before.

We are taking our own outwell Florida 6 to guyonniere in august but wanted a pre erected for may half term as the weather may be more changeable. The decking etc is a bonus.

We saw the safari tents last week when at La Garangeorie and they looked fine.  With regards to the dirty tents mentioned, these were the normal Eurocamp tents and we too were surprised at just how bad they looked from the outside and thought that they needed a good hosing down.  I think it was mainly tree debri and sap plus mud splattered up from the sandy ground when it rained.  We were camped very near them and did see reps giving the inside a very good clean for arriving guests so suspect that inside was fine though not sure I would have liked to roll up the outside part of the kitchen windows as they looked to grimy to touch!

Right.

I now know what you mean by safari tents. I can remember them down at the bottom of the site and these didn't seem to be a problem. Yes they have full sized beds which I found strange and yes they are at the bottom of the slope. But that will help burn of the calories of the wine the night before.

At least i wasn't the only one to find the frame tents dirty.

Sorry if I caused you any concern.

I think the tents are erected early in the season, and often sit unused and unloved until the first tent guest arrive which is often quite late in the season, because early holidayers tend to want mobile homes.  They are then thoroughly cleaned, inside and out, before anyone arrives.  I know, because my son used to do it.  The problem is that in poor weather the tents can look really shabby, but by the time clients arrive they are spruced up.

I think the 'looking old' is probably what they are.  I don't think Eurocamp and the like are doing particularly well at the moment, and probably haven't replaced their old equipment as regularly as they perhaps once did, in the boom years when they couldn't get enough pitches or enough sites.

Val,

These tents handn't been erected. It appeared to me they had never been taken down. Two of them were under hire the week I was there and the weather was terrific. I felt sorry for those people.

The Keycamp tents on the pitches opposite were bright and cheery and looked more inviting.

Talking to one man he said he was suprised the site management did nothing about it.

What I saw I would certainly not recommend them to anyone.

they were in use when we were there too and really did look disgusting on the outside though I am sure they must have been ok inside.  Having been in these tents and Eurosites too in the past I have never seen any look like that before on the outside!  Not sure how I would have felt if in one of those this time, even if the inside was clean!  Slipping standards or a desire to move away from tents by Eurocamp maybe.

Hiya, it was me who took the safari tent pics last year! They were fab, we'd be mor than happy staying in one...but wouldn't stay in the Eurocamp ones opposite - like someone else said they looked very dirty and someone said they had mice in them but I don't know how true that was.

Nikkid21, we'll be at La Garangeoire the same time as you, just round the corner! Pop in and say hello, we're on one of the deluxe pitches with the little wooden hut (flamants rose)

You'll see me sat outside the tent with a glass of pink every night lol

I just hope we get the same weather we had last May half term, it was glorious! Too hot for hubby but me and our little boy loved it

Regards, Bev
