Ditto! Not sure my husband would worry though.

If you can get down to Harwich, there's the option of the ferry and train on the other side:  http://www.seat61.com/Netherlands.htm

It's for the Redhead Day (weekend) in Holland on first September weekend in 2013 and every year...
Redhead Day 2013
which I want to go to before the percentage of white/grey takes over the red! We are looking at all the advice you kind people are giving us and seeing what might be the best option. I'm sure me and my hubby will talk about it while we are camping in Norfolk next week.

I've just booked 2 nights in a Breda hotel for the Redhead Weekend 2013. We can cancel up until the actual day if we need to though.

We are looking into possibly using some of our Avios (Airmiles) to pay for Eurostar and we still have to decide where we would like to spend some time camping.

The roadsigns all through Europe are pictures just like ours. You have to put your lights on when you go through tunnels and there are a few tunnels round Breda / Rotterdam. If you have an accident with a bike the car driver is assumed to be at fault. And Dutch people obey the rules to the letter. Which is a bit scary sometimes!

I'd say the biggest danger to tourists is when they get out of their car. The red bits are bike lane and are really not for walking on.

Apart from that, really don't worry. Dutch people are very good at speaking English, very good natured and polite. So have a lovely time!

If you are driving from Calais to Breda it really is this simple, take the Calais sign as you drive off the train & you will come onto the A16 motorway, just stay on this road past Calais, Dunkerque & over the border into Belguim, carry on up to Ghent & watch for slip road for Antwerp, once on this motorway you stay on it around Antwerp ring, over border into Holland & you are almost at Breda, which is first large town after border.

All towns I have mentioned are clearly signposted as you go, its all motorway & you only change roads once at Ghent as mentioned until you get to Breda, takes about 3hrs. Plenty of services that take UK credit/debit cards for fuel, ensure you inform your bank that you will be using your cards abroad. Holland is not quite so credit card friendly as UK/France, generally fuel stations & hotels will take cards but you will need cash for supermarkets, shops & some campsites. English is widely spoken in Holland so you will have no language problems.

When driving in town centres you will notice there are no road markings, all you do here is give way to right, also be careful at roundabouts in towns as there is a cycle track around edge & cyclists do not slow down.

And the traffic lights take twice as long at X roads as the cycle lanes have there own lights. watch the speed limits, 50 kph means 50kph, but they do not seem to worry about headlights, and all the other things the French do, or should I say require?

The Dutch are lovely people, If you are not sure what to do ask a Dutchman.

Thank you for the information.
We are both back at work on Tuesday 3rd September and the main photograph is taken around lunchtime on the Sunday so we need to weigh up the return journeys on either the Stenna Line ferry or using Eurotunnel, back to Cleethorpes.

Using Avios (Airmiles) would make the Eurotunnel free but there is the time and fuel costs to take into account. We could drive home Sunday afternoon, My husband doing the continental driving (164 miles) and I'll do the UK driving (240 miles). The fuel for this journey, according to google maps, would be about £180, the ferry, if I was to book it today, would be about the same but then add on the fuel to Harwich.

Still a lot of thinking to do!

Bobcat... can you recommend any campsites within a radius of Breda?
