Hi, we travelled down from Calais to Vendee (La Guyonniere) without caravan (tow car broke down before leaving, so we had to leave caravan at home and book static). We decided that although perfectly do-able in the caravan, when we book next year, we will probably do a stopover on the way down. By the time we've travelled to Folkestone, done the crossing, and travelled down, the last thing we're going to be wanting to do is pitch the caravan, sort water etc out, with two children in tow. I agree with Zanygirl, doing it on the way home is a different matter - wouldn't have a problem doing that in one go.
