We stayed on a private bathroom pitch at Haliotis for four days the week before last as a final stop on our hols. The site is very well kept but heavily coiffured, half campsite, half garden centre. I cant fault any of the facilities though. We booked a standard pitch, most have seven foot high dense hedges around them (perfectly maintained) which was a bit much - obviously lots of french sites use hedges as pitch markers and seclusion is fine, but this felt a bit harsh. We moved and the private bathroom pitches were hedged but much more open. I dont recall the private bathroom having any sockets or power points. Mont St Michel is a beautiful place and worth a visit, but i agree its a tourist trap and actually better from the outside. Even out of season the lovely narrow winding pathways were chocker block, and of course full of tourist tat. Theyre building additional access roads at the moment which are apparently going to service new hotels there. Overkill?
