Just to reign this post back in a bit guys I do think the original poster may have been put of a little as no reply (save the 4 VAL A and kate etc) to asking by others where she would like to go.
Plus she had posted this in another forum and was told it was in the worng place
Whilst I'm all for a laugh we haven't really made any sensible suggestions as somehow dont think she was looking for 'au natural'.
so drawing a line

How far are you or OH happy to drive. Starting from Bucks you have a reasonably quick run for the ports. So how far on other side. Within a day decent traveling have a look at places on the Ile De Oleron or Rochelle or Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie...
Ive suggested those as perhaps more for teenagers to do as its perhaps harder with 2 teenagers finding a happy medium for everyone but depends on what you are all looking for, compile a list, post it on here and I'm sure we will all come up with some sensible suggestions.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Plenty of campers have tried naturist camping for the first time in France & found they liked it. The op may well find the info useful as could any other reader of this forum. The op was unspecific enough to assume they were canvassing opinions on all aspects of French camping.
Hi there I am hoping to go camping next year in Brittany with my family taking all our own gear plus I have a trailer, the problem I have is I don't know where to start,i.e ferry crossings best campsites for children
any help would be great
thanks
stuart
When do you want to go? During the school holidays in July/August? What sort of site do you and your children like? Some people love just five pitches in an orchard, on a farm site, others want pool complexes and entertainment, plus children's clubs etc. There is something to suit everyone in France, from the smallest to the largest. Is budget important - the longer crossings are more expensive - and how long do you have. Do you want to be near to a beach?
It would help everyone to give the best possible answers if we knew just a little more about your requirements.

When we've been we've done an overnight stop followed by a 6 hour journey. It's about the minimum distance to get an appreciable improvement in the weather.
Are they active teenagers? Have you considered the Ardeche? Lots to do - canoeing, climbing, walking, riding or just messing about in the river! Generally good weather too.
There's a choice of sites from all singing all dancing to small countryside - have a look at the reviews on here.
Good luck!

Stuart you might be better starting a different topic just for your question.
We've only stayed on a couple of sites in Brittany, one very quiet and not the sort of thing you're looking for - and the other very 'full-on' when we had teenagers. That was Chateau des Ormes, at Dol de Bretagne, and at the time we couldn't have picked a better site. It has a huge range of activities for teenagers - and my son and his teenage friend loved it. The friend's parents caravanned in France for the first time on that holiday, after we'd been trying to persuade them for years, and now, like us, they go twice or more each year - so they must have enjoyed it too.
We got a Portsmouth/Caen ferry which was very convenient for the site - and if you book certain sailings through the Caravan Club (afternoon crossing outwards, and 8.30 am return) then Caravans go Free. If you buy the Optional Camping Cheques then one recent poster reported that his ferry crossing went down by much more than the extra cost of the Camping Cheques, so it's worth a look on the Caravan Club website to check it out.
Once upon a time we had four twelve year olds - though not all at once and they are all grown up now.
On the four occasions in four separate years when they happened to be twelve they went to the Med at Cavalaire, mountain walking in the Alps around Briancon, swimming in icy water at Beg Meil in Brittany, and dropping things off the leaning tower of Pisa. But we never particularly chose camp sites - we chose places.
