La-Croix-du-Vieux-Pont ran a coach to Paris around three times a week when we stayed there a few summers ago,it was reasonably priced also.I would also suggest if you want to get around Paris fairly quickly, you use the Metro. The distanace between the tourist attractractions is a lot farther than they look on the maps I would also recommend a trip to Pierrefonds to see the magnificent castle there where the T.V series Merlin was filmed, and to us looked like the inspiation for the castle adopted by the Disney people.

We went for the day this year when staying at a site nearby. We headed straight to the Eiffle Tower and went up it which was fab. We then did the open top bus tour which was great as we saw all the main sights and hopped off when we wanted to. We also went for food at Lafayettes which was a good option for us.
Reading this thread again has made me want to go back to Paris, so we've been looking at Eurocamp for early season next year, on our way to pick up our caravan! We had such a good time last time, that we may just have a day or two longer this time. With Eurocamp's loyalty bonus and early booking discount a mobile home for five days is cheaper than a hotel for three days!
Mind you, this time, there is no one we'd want to see at the Olympia.
We had a day in Paris last year, we managed the eiffel tower by getting there very early, a cruise on the river and our own walking tour of several other sights. However we saved time by having a subway lunch and sat on the river bank to eat it. A restaurant meal could waste time if you only do a day.

I you fancy a real Paris experience then try here.
We stayed there for a long weekend at the beginning of October and I can't recommend it highly enough. Walking distance (100 metres) to the metro and to a choice of umpteen restaurants and to loads of shops and a market.
Despite being close to a busy area it is away from the street through a courtyard and is as quiet as the countryside.
For Paris the price is competitive too and unusual for an apartment only a 2 night minimum stay
Would I be totally mad to bring 2 3 year olds and 2 5 years olds in for a day trip next August ? I would love to go into Paris for the day and maybe do the open top bus tour and a little wander around but wonder would it be crazy with 4 smallies ???
Havent been since a school tour many many many moons ago but always wanted to return - we didnt venture last year but with everyone a bit bigger next year I would love to go in for a day.
