Re - tents. You may thuink we're mad, but we used to find a hotel for the stop over on the wya down...years ago. Then we decided to buy a small pop up for the stop over, again a bit of disaster because it was soooo small. OK if tiy have a smal airbed but I felt like I could touch the roof with my chin, and getting dressed looked like guinea pig giving birth for the onlooker...hilarious though.

In my wisdown and yes I will take ALL the credit, I bought a Quechua 4.1. BLISS, I could stand up and get dressed! On one of the trips we decide rather than have to wait for the tent to dry off and get off late, de-camped to a smaller tent the night before we were supposed to leave....perfect.When we got home I saw that Quechua did a shelter with a bedroom (4.2), I felt sure thehy would work together, and indeed they do. So these days we pitch the 4.2 for single night stops, and add the 4.1 as a shelter or to extend the living area. The night before we leave after a  long stay we take one of them down.

Big tents are good but we tend not to tour as much, where as withthe smaller tents we can go somewhere for a few days and its not such big deal.

I want to stop at Guedelon again this year, just to see how the project has progressed.(check out chateau du Guedelon, its a 25 year project to build a medieval fortress) . It was a recommnedation from someone we met over drink in Chablis...fab.

Also, we are into classical muisc, so if there is a concert somewhere and we want to stop over and have a meal etc, then it gives us that flexibility.

We have never booked Le Tedey and always got a pitch. We go late in the season for this reason. Usually last week August when the French children are going back to school.   We have concerts throughout the year, so we go in the recess and watch other peoples efforts for a change. August is often back to back concert each weekend in France, resident choirs and orchestra tour. We saw a quartete from the Paris  Conservatoire in Lacanau one year!  (I have Beethoven 9th and Faure Requiem in the next few months - fab)

Guaranteed, we will all have great time, and I will be bitten to death!
