Sablons is great we are returning next year after going this year. I think Brasilia may be better suited to your kids ages but we never got to go there despite my best efforts as in August its sat-sat arrival/departure and we only do 12 nights after travelling. I can recommend booking via Eurocamp Independent as the kids clubs are brilliant if your kids like that sort of thing.

Hi,

We're thinking along the same lines as the OP: we had a lovely time in Charente Maritime this year but fancy the Med next summer. There seem to be no end of sites to choose from, but like the previous poster we would want to do 12-ish nights rather than a full two weeks so Saturday to Saturday booking is a problem. I reckon that if we stay inland a bit this won't be too much of an issue, but Mrs Valhalla wants to be close to a beach for the nipper... any suggestions of nice, near the beach, sites where there's no insistence on Saturday to Saturday booking?

Backtracking a bit on this thread but which site did you use in Cavalaire Berriow? Just read a great article about the town saying how lovely it is.

I did ten nights on Le Brasilia which did not involve Saturday to Saturday although that was in April and again in June, a friend did it in August but called them to explain the holiday dates, it worked! Give it a try, good luck

We stayed at Bonporteau which is just on the perimeter of the town.
The site is very hilly and not the happiest place for trailer tents. They seem geared to caravans or motorhomes, although it had a large popular swimming pool.

It boasts its own beach ( across the road, down a lane, along another lane, over some dues to and inlet)

The town itself is brilliant, not quite so stupidly touristy and a comfortable size.

Should we return there (which is likely) we will look for one of the flatter campsites.

We stayed several times at Camping La Treille - which was unsophisticated then, and had no pool in those days, but has changed a lot from what I can see of it's website. It's small and they pack them in, but it's flat and the closest site to the town shops and bars, though we always drove out to beaches such as .Gigaro.

Thanks for all the suggestions last year - We're back from 17 nights camping at Domaine la Yole campsite. Had a great time and made the most of the €1.60 / litre wine. Great beaches in that area that were much more usable that the Atlantic coast we visited last year.

We traveled during the week as much as possible which I would certainly recommend to avoid any August traffic.

We stayed at Serignan Plage - direct beach access, good size pitches (on the Phare Ouest part), and as the pitches are in a separate area which is well away from the centre of the campsite, we had no noise issues whatsoever.
