to be fair Ollie i think that was bad luck. Although i dont particularly think much of the area, the weather has never been anything less than warm and sunny when we have been and we have spent 6 weeks there in total over the years. You might get a bad day but would be blooming unlucky to get rain every day

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Yes it was bad luck, but you won't catch me going back for more bad luck! But to put it into perspective I've spent over 40 weeks in areas including the Alps, Dordogne, Tarn, Jura, Gard, Haute Provence and Luberon and only ever had about 3 days of rain and lots of very short showers.
I've also had the equivalent of about 3 weeks in the Lake District over a 10 year period and had no rain - now that is good luck.

I dont really want to travel south any further than the Vendee are due to time spent driving so I was kind of hoping for very good reviews on the weather.
A friend of mine did a eurocamp stay and came back saying it rained all the time... I know that anywhere can be a risk but Im just hoping to minimise the risk 😉

If the weather is a real worry then really you need to head down further to Aquitaine or Med coast for more guaranteed hotter weather but not necessarily less rain, but even then you may get rainy days or even short periods of unsettled weather in July/August (especially later August)
Chances are high that you will have some very good weather but certainly cannot guarantee it anywhere in northern/mid Europe
Do look at travelling distances depending what crossing you are using as Vendee can be quite a way form Calais for instance with not that much further to Charente/Aquitaine or even Med coast in grand scheme of things
