We are heading down to Sarlat mid August and stopping at Chartres. On the way back we just drive straight to Calais and then we only live 10 minutes from he Euro tunnel.
This will be our 5th and last time in Dordogne region. Very beautiful area.
Last time? I think We've done the Dordogne (within 30 mins of Sarlat) 3 times now (could be 4 lost count!) I want to go back to Milau(Nant) soonish but next on my list is the Ardeche area but I can see visits to the Dordogne carrying on for a long time to come!..
In reply to another post, every year we've done the Rouen, Everaux, Chatres route and don't mind it at all. Just something I've been mulling over since reading another thread on here about why we're we avoiding Paris.. Admittedly the only time I've seen google maps recommend the Rouen route was during what I assume to be Parisian rush hour.
As I'm the only driver and we've never been this early (first weekend of the Summer holidays!!) this was why I'd been thinking of hitting somewhere 4hrs from the port in case we hit bad traffic delays. But I'll have a look now at maybe as far as Limoges..
