Of all the sites around Nyons, Le Clos is our least favourite. Had you gone a further 2km around thebend of the river you could have stayed at
L'Or Vert

For those still in the area, it is worthwhile staying in or around the Vaucluse Enclave, and if you have time, cycle from Rousset les vignes down to Valreas. Passes through lovely lavender fields and it is 8.7 kilometres of gentle freewheeling on the bike.

Thanks Stuart, we did look at that but wanted to be the closest to town, I've enjoyed the campsite in its shabby chic way, the pool is fab and they are so friendly here, we planned on doing lots of cycling but it's been so hot that went out the window and it's just been into town for long lunches and back to the pool. The site is full and we are only English here. Sad I'm going to miss the market but we are moving that day along the route remarkable to see more of the area. Back home end of month so want to see the most we can, it's definitely an area we will come back to. The lavender has been cut here but the tourist office says it is cut later in the area we are travelling to so hopefully we will see it. It's going to be 36 degrees today , haven't seen a cloud in the sky since we hit the area .

We camped in the Luberon area 2 years ago. It was one of the very best trips we have ever had in France.

We based ourselves in Gordes at 'Camping Des Sources' http://www.campingdessources.com
Its a great little campsite with he most incredible views over the Luberon Valley. An easy walk into the village from the bottom of the campsite.

Gordes is part time home to 'Ridley Scott' ,and the 'Pitts' are just 7 miles away near Menerbes. It is a rich playground , and as such is kept pristine but in no way pretencious like some places on the riviera.

We were just 7 minutes from Senanque Abbey (infamous image of the lavender fields and the abbey..just google Provence and this picture is sure to appear.

Bonnieux, Oppede Le Vieux, Menerbes, Roussillon are all exceptionally picturesque.
Amazing cycling country especially for road bikes.

We are not fans of the seaside but the trip to Cassis was lovely, and relatively near.

Sault and Mont Ventoux were memorably wonderful too.

Arrived yesterday at montbrun municipal , the drive here was fantastic with great views on the scenic road. Managed to see a lavender field at last. The old village is a spectacular sight and we got lunch yesterday up in the old part looking out for miles and miles - an empty table right at the walls edge that would have a waiting list as long as your arm to get in uk. The joy of the municipal is 3 minute walk to town ....the showers though are really basic. Dead cheap here I think 14 euros in the height of season , free wifi and satellite works. Big pool next door, asked owner how much to swim 2:50 euros then he said joking with me that we can't use it since Brexit , he has a good sense of humour . Weather yesterday was lovely 33 degrees but a bit of rain in the night and this afternoon rain forcast and possibly thunder. Moving Saturday and going to phone the castel site at pont d'Arc and see if we can get in. I've loved discovering this area and we are talking about coming straight to this region next year and spending our whole holiday time around here, it's been beautiful . Thanks to all for suggesting places I will be a lot more clued up next year xx

Thanks again for another satellite report, 85cm so far South is quite good, just a pity that the signal drops of down on the Med coast, especially at the Western end, at least a 1m is required for Frejus is what we found last year.

Lets hope NE Italy and the Venetto regionis graced with good weather.

After 22 years 'trotting' round France, we're hopping over the border to start exploring my 'nona's' homeland.
We're starting with Limone nr Garda, then over the Venice which we know and love.

Tuscany will have to be next year, then the Amalfi coast. We have a trip to Palazzola next year with some people in choir. Palazzola is a 13th century monastery just outside Rome, and was for many years a retreat for the novice catholic clergy. Now it is a retreat for catholic pilgrims...this will be very special, as all of us have sung together for over 12 yrs now and we know each other really well.

Anyways that's my indulgence. Pray to St Anthony for some sunshine and st Christopher for safety on route.
