Check out La Cluzas, round the north side of Annecy up towards Chamonix...fabulous.

Also look at Chatel way over towards Switzerland. The camping is amazing.

Try and find out if there is a cycle path. I think I can remember one beyond the bottom of the lake - not sure about around the lake though. It would be a beautiful ride if there is one.

There is a perfect cycle path all along the west side of the lake. It mostly follows a disused railway line(including tunnels) so is pretty much flat and traffic free until you reach the south of the lake. You can continue round the east side of the lake but it's a lot hillier on that side.

I have just added my review for L'Aloua. We spent two nights there in July. It was a very busy area but we did get on to this site without a booking. It was near enough to cycle in with ease and such lovely views. We loved it and would return. It did take some time to drive along the lake as it was very busy with traffic but once here you can park up and walk or cycle.

Could you hear road noise from the whole site or were pitches further from the road quieter?

The campsite is far enough from the main road for noise not to be a problem on any of the pitches. It's on a quiet cul de sac that only leads to a few houses and the cycle path, so not much passing traffic from that either.

Sounds perfect - thank you

Road noise is pretty evident from the back of pitch at L 'Aloua where we were but i would think you wouldn't hear anything much the more you move towards cycle path and lake. We were not given a choice as it was fairly busy and were only staying 2 nights.

Oh, sorry to hear that, and stand corrected. Sorry if I mislead anyone.

We were pitched at the front of the site near the shower blocks on the road side of the site both times and were totally unaware of any noise, unlike Au Couer du Lac where which was so bad we moved after only one night. I think the pitch numbers were 24 and 25 (we were given a choice on both occasions). That was in late June and early September when we stayed for about 4 nights on each occasion.

All I can think is that the very back of the site must be a less protected from the noise by the houses between the road and the site but even so we weren't aware of any road noise around reception, which is also at the back of the site. Maybe we are just going deaf in our old age! :-)
