All the various insurances are a bit of a pain ... it's a shame they can't all be bundled by someone ... I'm sure they'd make a killing if they did!
We have the caravan insured via Towergate (we store it in France and use it, only, on the continent); then our travel/medical insurance is as above; then the car insurance covers european travel and recovery as well as out normal use.
Every year, getting multiple quotes to compare is rather boring ... wish there was a central record of everything that has to be entered so that a single reference number could be typed into all forms ...
Utopia!

Thanks for your reply's.
We all have ehic cards, and the car and vans covered by insurance and breakdown cover. I've had a decent quote from medical travel compared which I will probably go with. Just wondered if any fellow caravaners had come across insurance thats more catered to touring like the caravan clubs than the normal travel insurance thats more catered to packaged holidays. As for red pennent they may be good but the quote i received was £182 for travel and breakdown and £230 for just travel which i thought was strange. Looking forward to going back to France though.
Thanks Richard

I think Red Pennant is really set up to be a complete package and when you start picking it apart it works out more expensive. One element of Red Pennant which has an advantage over others is that you are only dealing with one point of contact rather than two if you were unfortunate enough to have a problem with health and then needed your outfit recovered.
We've used Red pennant for many years ( 30ish I think) and have used it just twice. Once when a Volvo broke down on the way to France - we were delayed by 2 hours - the time it took for the CC to arrange a hire car to be delivered to Maidstone and again two years ago when we broke down near Perpignan and parts weren't available locally - again a hire car was made available within an hour. On a couple of occasions they have given advice over the phone to diagnose problems with the caravan. We pay £330 for an annual policy which gives us cover for at least two trips sometimes three - so covers at least 56days and some times more. We have 4 medical issues between the two of us. I think that's pretty good value.
Sods law will now say that the renewal due next month will show a huge increase.
