As pointed out . You pay upfront the set tow charge if you break down on a French toll road & any breakdown cover will reimburse you later. How did it cost you 750€? The the tow charge on the autoroute is fixed at the prices stated earlier in the thread. The usual reasonably priced breakdown cover does not cover parts & it does not cover labour for garage repairs unless you pay for extra cover as with RAC.

It cost 750 for two tyres to a 7.5 ton wagon they wanted 1000 but my point was saga do not want to know if you are on a toll road there was a call out charge of 250 euros included in the bill all I was told was it's a private road

Bearchef, I am afraid you are misleading people. The Saga terms and conditions are clear. They WILL cover the cost of recovery from a French autoroute. The French recovery man will either send them the bill, or the motorist can pay with a card and then send them the bill. But not for new tyres !

Well they certainly wouldn't reimburse me all I got was you are not covered on French toll road and we even called them when we reached our destination I'm not asking for payment for tyres but call out fees should be covered

Car/caravan breakdown cover does not cover 7.5tonne vehicles usually which would be why Saga would not recover you. You need to read T&Cs of any breakdown cover carefully to ensure it provides what you want. If you are towing with a larger commercial you might need cover for a commercial vehicle.
