Hi thank you for the replies we hadn’t even thought about our car insurance wanted feedback to see if other towing passengers had been expected to do a uturn on platforms to board trains. EuroTunnel response seems to imply it’s a regular occurrence! Anyway will speak to our car insurance and see. Lack of assistance from staff was most disappointing. It was rather scary turning going as close to edge as you can, wonder what they would of said if we’d fallen off platform !!😮

If Eurotunnel practise was causing possibility of users driving off platform & risking serious injury then Eurotunnel need proscecuting. Are you now beginning to see why the private individual has no chance of winning? This needs to be left to the insurance you have paid for & their lawyers. I suggest you egg this as much as possible. Your chance of winning here will be pushing the 'bad practise putting public at risk angle'.
We had an incident with our classic car last year. We grounded on the speed bump at security checks. Exhaust manifold was damaged and need complete replacement. Eurotunnel paid without any issues

Hi yes the pedal of a bike was pushed into the car. We’ve driven with the same serup for 8 years and gone round many tight turns etc but not has a problem.
and was the pedal pushed into the car by the box on the trailer?

Good luck with you claim. We will watch with interest.
Last time we used the tunnel, a seagull pooped on our car and no one from Eurotunnel offered to clean it off. We want to sue them for wilful neglect and failure to protect their passengers.
I don't think you'll get anywhere claiming off Euro tunnel. Your car and trailer was badly loaded by yourself and it got damaged just by simply driving it round a tight corner. The fact you've got away with it for years is irrelevant.
Whether a claim is successful or not remains to be seen but acknowledgement that we were forced into a risky situation because of the Euro Tunnels decision and error on loading onto the train without assistance from staff would be good. We may have caused a tight turning circle on our vehicle but we didn't choose to perform a uturn on a train platform. It would be interesting to know the dimensions of the platform and what size vehicle/trailer/caravan/turning circle ability can complete this move. How many have?

"Risky situation"? it's only risky if your vehicle is capable of damaging itself by putting full lock on the steering and driving.
Also if you couldn't turn without damaging the car why not use reverse gear to do a 3 point turn?
"Euro Tunnels decision and error on loading" ok so Euro Tunnel made a mistake and sent you to the wrong point or whatever, they still didn't damage your car... You did.

Unbelievable! Why on Earth would you expect compensation from Eurotunnel for that?
Obviously, seagulls come under the jurisdiction of the ferry companies. The land based Eurotunnel are only responsible for pigeons... and maybe cats, but I'd need to double check that.
The fact that one of the ferry companies' seagulls flew over Eurotunnel's airspace and did the dirty on you is by the by. Short of shooting the buggers down, Eurotunnel can do very little about it. .. and you are deluded to expect them to!
Now... a sternly worded solicitors letter to each of the ferry companies is a different matter entirely... take the blighters to the cleaners , I say!! The dirty bas*ards!

I was sorry to read of the incident you had at Eurotunnel. I think the platforms are narrow to perform a U turn. However the trailer drawbar length is intended to be long enough so the trailer does not catch the car when on full lock. If you put bikes on the back of the car above the tow hitch, there is a good chance that the trailer will hit the bikes. It is up to you to realise this, not the Eurotunnel staff.
The fact that Eurotunnel require users with trailers to do u turns on a platform where there is an unfenced drop is enough for a health & safety procecution. It is bad practise. Good luck to the op with this. Eurotunnel are 100% liable for the simple reason that they are endangering the public. If you turn any trailer or caravan tight enough you will hit the car.
If the op was trying to avoid driving off the side of the platform on the orders of Eurotunnel staff members who did not direct him as he turned then it is likely was not able to give full attention to position of trailer relative to car.

This about claiming for damage to a car,not health and safety.
Nobody would force you to drive off the platform, only your own stupidity would do that.
If it was fenced there would be idiots crashing into it.
If you can't perform a move say so or just uncouple the trailer. The trouble with that is most people would rather risk the damage to their property than be bothered to do it.
