I have never used camping cheques, only ACSI. However it may be that you also need to consider the dates that each system is valid for, this may also be a factor.

I have spoken with a few site owners and they all say the same - CC are slow in paying them, and they have to pay CC more than they do ACSI CC also tried to tell the site owners that they could not have ACSI as well as CC - so obviously the owners said allez vous en! or words to that effect. Pour moi, pas de choix - ACSI!!
Although I used to promote Camping Cheques, and we used them successfully for many years, in the last few years they stopped being an organisation of campsite owners who were attempting to attract more low season business, and became just a part of an international travel corporation (Kawan). At the same time they reduced the amounts sites received, tried to prevent them being part of the ACSI scheme, and behaved much more like the money-making corporation they had become. Site owners had to wait an increasingly long time for payment and as ldpmdp says because fed up and started to drop out of the scheme. Those 'Castels' type sites whose owners formed the original organisation were replaced with sites of lesser star ratings........... and the bargains that used to be available by using Camping Cheques on a four/five star site were less and less in number.
Whilst we still use them I rather think their days may be numbered because even the new method of adding Camping Cheques to an electronic card means that site owners don't receive instant payment like they do with ACSI.

You can also pre order the ACSI book/card from C&CC for only £12.99 inclusive of postage
I had previously obtained the book from Vicarious for many years. I did phone Vicarious last week to ask why they were charging £17.99 even with a discount code when I could buy
through C&CC for £12.99.
They couldn't give me an answer!
Needless to say I have ordered through C&CC.
Vicarious have lost a longstanding customer
The answer would have been that the £12.99 price is only available to members of the C&CC. So there needs to be other reasons to make it worthwhile joining. At all times one needs to do the maths to ensure best prices. Can also be ordered direct from ACSI website. So one does need to shop around.
The ACSI price, including postage, is still cheaper than Vicarious Books' 'discount' offer. However, there are various packages of Card/App/ACSI ID, at various prices, so take care when ordering that you are only buying those elements that you will actually use.

Shame you have to buy both the books when only one is required Buying only one would be cheaper Thanks for the info re the c+cc I shall look into that because of course this is the time of the year to start doing the homework. One of my sites is already booked - I went to book it during my stay last August only to be told 'I have already booked you in for next year'. Talk about creatures of habit
