Is there competition for what the CMC Red Pennant offer?
Or is it available to non-members? We have been rescued twice in the past decade and, on each occasion, we have had to have a tow car transported out from the UK and ours taken home. Red Pennant were superb each time. Does anyone else match their service?
There is, but it depends what you want. Some people don't need 'door to door' cover and would be quite happy to extend their holiday whilst car or caravan were sorted out, or to be offered a hire car whilst the caravan was taken home........ with Red Pennant you get bells and whistles, belt and braces - and it's sometimes more than people need. It also doesn't cover people like us, who have their caravan stored in France, so we have to have an alternative - and get what cover we can for both breakdown and travel insurance.
We have had just two occasions in thirty-eight years of European travel, when we've had to call out breakdown services. Once was when we were covered by the AA, and we got first class service, the other when we were covered by Green Flag, and again couldn't fault them. The first time we were loaned an alternative vehicle (we weren't towing), the second time the car was repaired on site and we just carried on with our holiday.
