Yep been doing that route for a number of years now, a breeze getting passed Lyon.

But do come back through the tunnel as it's nowhere near as bad as heading South, in fact the traffic is always moving. Then you get out the tunnels and look in amazement at the queues of traffic just sitting there.

We always take the autoroute that goes round Lyon. Have done the tunnels a couple of times. Once towing a caravan (not nice) and once on a motorbike (better.) If you ever get a chance, do a stop over and visit Lyon - its superb.

Lyon is easy going south - go through the tunnel and then just hug the river. It isn't really on the route to Millau

What your'e quite happy to wait in an up to six mile queue(the longest I personally have seen)to get through the tunnels?
I could be round the place before you hit the tunnels.
