What’s changed ? Very little
You still have the hassle of finding somewhere to take a test before getting the ferry or Eurotunnel home
And you still have go through the pulava of filling in a Passenger Locator form online and booking a
Day 2 test
The only thing you don’t have to do is take a
Day 8 test
Ive just purchased antigen tests to take with us so no hassle finding somewhere to do them
How do prove to the authorities you actually taken the test and are clear
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

Do you mean that you have bought an antigen test in the UK to take with you to do in France before you come back?
How does that work? I thought you would have to visit a test centre in France. Where do you get your results from?

Not having to take a day 8 test for 2 of us is about £270 saved. That’s the big change.
Can anyone clarify the pre departure test that you have to get in France.
The gov.uk site points you to the sante.fr site, listing the labs where you can get tested.
What I am not clear about is whether this is just for the pcr test, as I thought you could get an antigen test (which would also be valid as an alternative to the pcr) from most pharmacies, which would make the planning of our return a lot simpler, as just about every village has a pharmacie.

Lateral Flow, from Pharmacy, get certificate, jobs a good un.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
You need to book, because, remember they are doing vaccinations as well.
I think we booked a couple of days in advance.

You don`t have to quarantine at home for 10 days - - a big change.

Great idea, pity it's cheaper in France.

Thanks for that, can you go to any pharmacie, and if not, is there a list of testing ones anywhere?
Also, is it now correct that you can have the antigen one 3 days prior to landing in the UK? I'm sure I saw a few weeks ago that you used to be able to have the pcr test 3 days before but the antigen had to be 2 days before. Now the gov.uk site doesn't seem to differentiate between them. 3 days would mean that we could do it at the campsite we are planning to stay at, meaning that it would be much easier to book in advance, rather than calling in somewhere on the trip back.
It was much easier last October when all we had to do was quarantine for 14 days with no testing.

Not all Pharmacies do it, there is a list somewhere, but we got friends in France to check for a Pharmacy close to where we were staying.

I think it was the French entry requirements that said 2 days for antigen or 3 days for PCR, rather than the UK's.
You can find French testing locations here: https://www.sante.fr/cf/carte-depistage-covid.html Most of them don't seem to have details of costs, but I'm sure I read somewhere that its around €29 for an antigen test.
We decided though to take the easy route and bought the tests from https://www.c19testing.co.uk/ to take with us. They're £29 each which isn't very much more than they charge in France, but it'll be a LOT more convenient for us seeing as we don't know whereabouts we'll be when we need to get tested.
I have seen ths sante.fr site, but thought that this was probably just for pcr tests, hence my question about antigen tests from pharamacies.
However, like you, I will go for the uk based one, as long as it is genuine! It seems too good to be true as it will make the return trip
Planning much easier.
I had assumed that you would have had to have the test performed by a 3rd party to stop you fiddling the result, but I suppose it's the same as the day 2 test which you can do yourself and post in.

Somebody on another forum reported that they'd used it to return to the UK, so it should be genuine.
I wouldn't look too closely at the whole testing system if I were you....there are more holes in it than a colander
