The municipal at Amboise is good but can be a bit noisy. We preferred the one a bit further away at Chinon: Camping intercommunal Island Auger. Chinon has a good Thursday market and a large antiques market on the fourth Sunday of the month plus there is a municipal swimming pool just 50m away.
Le Sabot at Azay-le-Rideau is another good one with a pool on site. Why not do all three!

We have just got back from Flower Camping ile D'Offard on saturday - they now offer a new camping pitch type which includes a private toilet, hot shower, cooking hob, sink and fridge. made us feel very safe covid wise.
we have stayed here mutliple times and is a great base for the surrounding areas.
Morning all, just thought I would update this thread in case anyone stumbles on it in the future.
In the end we booked 4 nights at Ile d'Offard, which we extended another night as the weather was wall-to-wall blue sky.
The site was everything we had hoped for in a site.
Some of the pitches were VERY shaded but through luck we got allocated one which got quite a lot of sun.(I don't know if you could choose your own pitch as we saw newcomers driving round so I don't know if they were lost or just trying to choose a pitch (we arrived on the sunday of the busy Velo vintage weekend)).
The only downside to note, and it is not the campsites fault, is that there is a trainline that runs through the North of Saumur that has trains running on it occasionally through the night..... but this would effect the whole of the town and not just this campsite. But to sum it up, we would go back there.

Having been the person who first recommended Ile d'Offard, I'm glad you had a good time, my recommendation feels vindicated!
As for the train, that's news to me, I can't say I heard it though I do have the ability to zone this type of noise out, with practice/training it's amazing what you can sleep through.
