Thanks to everyone regarding data but the help I really need is what sort of Wi-Fi router they use preferably one that takes a SIM card many thanks colin
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
We have never bothered with a specific mifi router, we just tether our TV to our phones both at home and abroad and have never had a problem with connection. The only problem we had abroad was that some online services such as iPlayer don’t work outside the UK unless you have a VPN.
It’s easy to tether your phone to another device (ours is tethered to the iPad for when there’s no Wi-Fi & we use mobile data), but it’s not a one step process. Lots of info & YouTubes on Google - I’m sure someone will do a link to a clear set of instructions.
A tv may need a cable, but others will advise on that - we watch via the app.

How do I do that we have iPhones thanks colin
On the iPhone the setting you are looking for in the settings app is called ‘Personal Hotspot’. If you go to that bit of the settings and toggle the personal hotspot to ‘on’ and note the password you need to connect to it. Then just connect your TV or laptop or whatever to the hotspot in the same way you would to any wifi network, just look for the network appearing in your list and connect to it with the password in the settings.
We regularly tether our tablets to my phone, I am on an unlimited data plan, when on site. However, that’s often the problem as sites can be, by their nature, in less populated areas with corresponding signal issues.
Add to that the amount of data needed to stream TV and it may be less simple than it might appear.
I was advised by a 3 network advisor that I had more chance of getting a data signal via a mifi than a mobile signal on my phone.
I have started to work more days recently, and if I were to be able to go out and about in the van, I need to be certain that I can get a good signal for work.
Hence I am revisiting the possibility of getting a top mounted MiFi unit from motorhomewifi.com.
It is not cheap, however, it is supposed to be the most reliable.
