Our vets were £132 for the certificate and £50 for the Rabies jab. I would urge you to check the details on the certificate. Thankfully, when I got home I noticed the AHC number was different on the last page to the rest of the document. Pleased I noticed while I had time to get it changed, rather than at the pet reception!

Abbeywell Vets is certainly the cheapest after ringing around. Seems that here in South Devon us dog owners are seen as rich pickings! That quote of £400 for the AHC is quite rightly as said “ outrageous “
But after summing all things up, paying the £99 at Abbeywell + The Rabies Jab + Eurotunnel +Hotel for one night each way + Worming it still comes to over £300 . There is also the problem of whether my dog gets on with my Sons dog ?
Thanks for all the replies they were much appreciated and has certainly opened my eyes even more to the great British rip off !

Should also add that we would have had to change our travel plans too and gone a day earlier to get the vets appointment at Folkestone.

Just a note on this not to rely on that service if it is a weekend or bank holiday. We went at Easter and our vet in Yorkshire filled out the health check form incorrectly and we weren't allowed to cross. As it was a bank holiday Friday there were no vets anywhere near Folkestone with the appropriate qualifications/licence to complete new forms for us so we had to get our vet in Yorkshire to complete new forms and courier them down to us in Folkestone- it was a really stressful experience but we managed to cross the following day.
Sadly it was our dog's last trip to France due to her age but we were told by a few people that once in France you can buy the equivalent of the old style pet passport that we had for approximately €60 and therefore wouldn't need to buy another health certificate.
Our health certificate cost £110. The courier cost the vet £330!!
