We are planning a probable 3 trips this year. Is it simpler to organise travel insurance each time on this basis, rather than find annual insurance? We are both in our 70s, with one of us with several complaints. We have booked DFDS Newhaven-Dieppe for April, but don't know yet which crossings/companies we will use for the later ones.

We are members of the CAMC and got insurance through them. Opted for annual, can't remember the exact cost, but somewhere around the 240-ish for both of us. Depends how long you're staying, we opted for 31 days max, other options are 45 and 60 I think. No questions asked other than what Val above said, re terminal prognosis and GP advising against travel.

It my be worth looking at insurance that comes as part of a package, such as Nationwide Flex/Flexplus.
We went this route back in 2015 after a age related increase with our then insurers and, whilst there are age and existing conditions fees, when we compared earlier this year it was still a very cost effective policy.

Using ET, or any route out of Dover, is no longer of interest interest to us due to the royal pain in the backside that getting there from Cornwall involves-and the main attraction of the cheap prices also seems to have disappeared.

Booked my tunnel crossing in May 2023, out late Friday and back the following Saturday, just over 380 GBP including a dog without insurance.

Campsite booked, overnight hotel on Friday in Calais also booked.

Destination has been changed as the site I was planning to go next to a beach which can be accesses directly from the site does not allow dogs in May which is NBG to my dog!
