One of the issues for sites convenient to Calais is whether or not you can access/exit the site earlier or later. We have stayed at Sangatte, but they have a barrier, and lock the gates overnight. Also le Grand Gravelot, we had a look at it, but it doesn't appear to be accessible early/late.
