You should give it a try some time - Ballyness on the North Antrim coast and Rushin House on the Fermanagh / Cavan border are highly recommended.

Did drive a college minibus through Dublin at peak rush hour once. “Interesting”.

A couple of years ago, we went to Ireland with our twin axle and 3 dogs. In comparison to England we found it to be very expensive. Even the Guinness was more expensive and strangely enough we did not see many people drinking Guinness while over there. Going across country from Rosslare we were not too impressed with some of the roads as they were in a terrible state.

Depends on the age group and the pub but in some places, Guinness is mainly drunk by tourists. It is like going to Scotland and expecting everyone to eat Haggis.
Roads are subjective. Stick to the N roads and don't let your sat nav take you down R roads. They might have an 80 limit but even locals won't do 80 on them. The N24, N25 and N80 from Rosslare are as good as equivalent A roads. Motorways usually go North to South so you won't get much going East to west.
As for expensive. Wages are higher so cost of living is as well. I find Norway and Finland expensive. I also find Irish pubs expensive so rarely go but food shopping is fine if I avoid the more expensive places.
It is a foreign country. Things are different.

I used to do the commute every day. I avoid driving in Dublin and prefer park and ride or taking the train in. The M50 can be "very interesting"
