We have been travelling to France for about 14 years now and I still love it and still want to keep going and as its such a vast area with differing things to see and do I think we have a fair few years to go before we (if at all) exhaust it!
One year we travelled down south to Port Grimaud, on the Golfe de St Tropez, after two days travelling we had finally arrived at Domaine de Naides and wanted to see the sea so trundled down, across a small road and cut through Prairies de la Mer. As we were approaching the beach the sun was just starting to set, we could hear a caribbean band playing soft music, we stepped onto the beach and all around were the twinkling lights on the Golfe, people were sat sipping their drinks listening to the music and the water was sooo warm as we went for a paddle. We stood and looked around and just said 'Wow'.....we'd found heaven!
At nearby St Tropez you can mingle with people who at that time were paying £500 a night to berth their boats. We were seeing the same sights as them, swimming in the same sea, looking in the same shops (though maybe not buying!! LOL) and I think that holiday probably cost us £500 all in!
France can be as expensive or as cheap as you want to make it. If you shop around, get a good ferry deal, find a decent campsite at a reasonable price (check out the suggestions and recommendations on this site) and shop like the majority of french people do then you won't go far wrong. You will be rewarded with a holiday that you will just want to repeat and repeat!
